Abstract
The aims of the this article are to describe the determinants of occlusal morphology and limitation of the articulator. An articulator is used to simulate the patient¢¥s T. M. J. muscles of mastication, mandibular ligaments, mandible and maxilla, complex neuromuscular mechenism that programs mandibular movements.
Articulators can simulate, but they cannot duplicate, all possible mandibular movements Sin-le dental restorations may be fabricated adequately by the direct technique in the mouth ; however, multiple restorations are more practically accurately fabricated by
the indirect technique on the laboratory bench. Since the mouth is generally considered to be a poor articulator it becomes necesssary to utilize mechenical instruments to analyze occlusion and to fabricate multiple dental restorations.
Weshould remember and articulator can do nothing by itself.
If dentists understand mandibular movement and articulator deficiencies, they can compensate for their inherent inadequacies.
In summary, it must be recognized that he dentist operating the articulator is more important than the articulator.
